Dear Jockyjoecce88c
My name is Rae and I am a cancer information nurse specialist here at Macmillan Cancer Support.
There are lots of different ways of doing cancer surgery and lots of different operations. As you are due your operation tomorrow, it may be helpful for you to call the Support Line to chat things over. Having a conversation can help our nurses to talk things over and understand your diagnosis and treatment plan. This helps us give you the best information about your surgery and how you are likely to feel after surgery. Our telephone number on the Support Line is 0808 808 00 00 and we are open from 8am to 8pm 7 days a week.
There is information about what happens on the day of surgery and after cancer surgery.
When you wake up you may have some side effects such as pain or feeling sick. If you let the nurse looking after you know how you feel they can give you some medication to lessen this.
There is also some information about coping with treatment as we know it can be an anxious time and affect things like your emotional wellbeing. It is important to look after your physical and emotional health when going through cancer treatment.
With best wishes,
Rae
