  •  Hi peggy123

Thank you for getting in touch with us. My name is Lynsay, I am one of the cancer information nurses with Macmillan Cancer Support. I hope you are finding our online community to be a helpful and supportive environment.

I am really sorry to hear that you have experienced bad reactions following your zoledronic acid treatment. We would always advise you to contact your treatment team directly, at the hospital you attend for the zoledronic acid infusion.

Sometimes people are given an urgent contact number they can call during treatment. This is often a red card with a number on it. If you have this I would encourage you to give this a call today.

If not you can call the area you attend for your infusion, this may be a chemotherapy unit or day medicine unit. The healthcare professionals that administer treatments like zoledronic acid are familiar with the possible side effects of this treatment and can give you further advice and support depending on what it is you are experiencing.

It is not clear if this is your first treatment with zoledronic acid or if you have had previous treatments and you are now having more challenging side effects. Either way we would encourage you to contact your consultant to discuss this.

You can get in touch with your consultant by calling the main hospital number and asking to be put through to your consultant’s secretary. They can arrange either a call back or an appointment for you to discuss the effect this treatment has had on you and what the plan may be going forward.

You have not mentioned what you are physically experiencing, but we would always advise if your condition has worsened to seek urgent medical advice again through 111 or A/E.

    I hope this is helpful,

    All the best,

    Lynsay
