CA125 test

I was wandering if you could answer a question I have. I went to my GP reference vaginal bleeding in PMB. She orderd a blood test which one was requested was the CA125. On the 29th July, the other results came back but not that one. I have had a transvaginal scan where it was detected I had a ET of 11.8 with cystic spaces. Yesterday I had a hysterscopy and ET biopsy done under GA. So have not received the results.

My concern is why I haven't received the results, or if it has been done. Where do I go and ask about this? I've been to appointments bit nobody has relayed my results.

Thank you in advance

  • Hi Angelee6e571d,

Thanks for getting in touch. My name is Sarah and I’m one of the cancer information nurse specialists.

I’m sorry to hear you haven’t received the results from the blood tests that your GP requested.

The best thing to do is get back in touch with your GP practice as the results should have been sent through to your GP. The receptionist should be able to look back on your record to see which blood tests that your GP asked for and what the results are.

I’m not sure where you are in the UK but if you are in England, Northern Ireland or Wales you can download the NHS app which may give you access to your blood results.

Biopsy results can take a little longer depending on how many samples the pathologist has to report on. But generally speaking it usually takes about 2 weeks for them to come back. A copy of the results may be sent to both you and your GP.

Waiting for results can be a worrying time for lots of people so I hope you find the information on this page helpful to look at.

I really hope this information was helpful.  Please know, you can always give us a call to talk things through further.

    Take care and best wishes,
