Please can you help?  My follicular lymphoma has relapsed and may even have transformed - tests in progress.

I've been 6 years in remission and really took my eye off the ball in relation to the current treatments for follicular lymphoma.  I am a lapsed researcher, so quite happy reading research papers.

I need to get  quick grasp of the current recommended treatments so that I be informed.  I'd like to avoid the AI garbage.

Please, could you provide me with a quick starter digest and some refernces to catch up on my understanding?

My name is Rae and I am a Cancer Information Nurse Specialist here at Macmillan Cancer Support.

It sounds like a challenging time for you, as you are undergoing tests for relapsed follicular lymphoma which may have transformed.

Rather than us list all the current treatments for follicular lymphoma which has relapsed and transformed lymphoma it will probably be more prudent to wait until your tests results are back and see what treatment the haematology team offer you.  Treatment will depend on the treatment you have already had and how you responded to it, your age and general health, your test results and your preferences.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE)  has information for the management of Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma including relapsed follicular lymphoma.  If you have a transformed follicular lymphoma you may be offered chemotherapy, and if you respond well to that and are in good health they may offer you an autologous (self) stem cell transplant.  You may also be offered CAR-T cell therapy, a bi-specific antibody, or an allogenic (donor) stem cell transplant.

Waiting for test results can cause many emotions, our nurses on the support line are very happy to talk to you about how you are feeling during this time.  There is also the Cancer Care Map where you can find the local and national support available at this time.

    Best wishes,

    Rae
