Hi,

My eldest cousin on my mum's side of my family was diagnosed with kidney cancer which has spread to his spine.

He's currently in a cancer centre having treatment.

My cousin's mum is my mum's twin sister.

Myself, my two sisters and our brother have always been close to our auntie's eldest 3 children who are in their 40s and her two youngest sons who are in their early 30s.

I was wondering what types of treatment my cousin would be having in the cancer centre where he currently is.

My mum did tell me, but I can't remember.

  • Hello AuntieTJ824179f5,

Thanks for contacting us. I’m Gail, one of the Cancer Information Nurse Specialists on the Macmillan Support Line.

It sounds like you are a close family and you want to understand more about your cousin’s diagnosis and treatment. We are unable to access anyone’s NHS records so are can't discuss your cousin’s diagnosis and treatment plan, as we don’t have enough information.

Everyone’s treatment is unique to them and their circumstance at time of diagnosis. If you ask your Mum for specific details about your cousin’s diagnosis and treatment plan, we can direct you to specific information.

In the meantime, you may want to read general information about kidney cancer and treatment options. This will help you prepare further questions about your cousin’s diagnosis and treatment, to discuss with your Mum.

I hope you find this information helpful. Please do get in touch with us if you have more questions. You can call us free of charge on 0808 808 0000 or you can chat to us or email us. We are here every day from 8am to 8pm.

    Best wishes,

    Gail
