Started losing hair after first round. What is best way to shave head and where to get head shaved
Hi Trish,
Thanks for getting in touch and welcome to the forum. My name is Paula, and I am one of the Cancer Information Nurse specialists on the Macmillan support line. I am sorry to hear you have started to lose your hair after the first round of treatment, but this can happen depending on the type of treatment you are having. If you do want to remove all your hair, it is important to use clippers. Avoid using a blade or razor as this can lead to cuts and infections. If you have never used clippers before, talk to a hairdresser or barber first. They can advise you. The charity Cancer Hair Care also has a guide on using clippers.
My new hair by salons that care is a charity that provides support and advice for medical hair loss and can also guide you to a salon. You can also talk to your treatment team, as some hospitals have a hairdresser who comes into the hospital or unit. Hope this helps.
Take Care
Paula

Many thanks Paula. Great help. Thought I’d last a couple more rounds before the inevitable happened. Falling out like mad today so I think I’ve got to bite the bullet and get had shaved. as everyone telling me it will grow again, I know that but it brings it home now and hair won’t grow overnight. But on a positive note I won’t be spending £55 for a cut and blow dry for a while
