My wife had a full nephrectomy in mid-July after a scan revealed a growth. At a consultation following the operation she was informed that it was a dedifferentiated liposarcoma and told not to have caffeine. We forgot to ask if this was just during the post-op recovery period or was to be permanent. She was told that her remaining kidney appears to be functioning normally. Could you give us any help or advice on this please? Is there any reason for her to give up caffeine permanently?

It’s good to hear your wife is recovering well after surgery. Unfortunately, we have no access to personal NHS records so I suggest you contact her clinical nurse specialist or medical team to check whether she should permanently avoid caffeine, as they can explain the reason they specifically asked her to avoid caffeine post operatively.
