Hi, not been on for a while. Finished my RT end of last year.  On Decapeptyl hormone injections every 3 months.

Gone pretty well ... my last 3 PSA tests were 0.01. Having a few sleep problems (getting worse) & Hot flushes (Especially a night). I believe this is pretty normal.

Latest concern is my Hemoglobin is starting to go lower each test. Now 118. Feeling very tired.

Any thoughts or advice welcome. I see my oncologist next week & expect the solution will be Iron supplements but looking other peoples experiences.

Should I worry??

  • Hello DivonneS,

Thanks for getting in touch with us. I’m Linda, one of the nurses from our support line. I see you are a member of the prostate cancer forum. I hope you are finding it supportive.

It’s understandable that you are worrying about the fall in your Haemoglobin. You mention seeing your oncologist next week. This will be a good opportunity to discuss your concerns. It’s possible that they may suggest iron supplements. They are best placed to guide you, to discuss treatment options and will continue to monitor it.

You mention having a few sleep problems, you may wish to have a look at our information on trouble sleeping and a free app called sleepio.

Hot flushes are a common side effect. Prostate Cancer UK have good information on how to cope with them that you may find useful.

    I hope this helps.

    Take care and best wishes,

Linda J.  (Cancer Information Nurse Specialist)
