  • I am postmenopausal,4 years since my last period and am on HRT.I had a vaginal ultrasound in February as part of my screening to become a kidney doner and the report said I had a slight endometrial thickening of 8mm and was told it needed to be checked out as I had had some post menopausal spotting
  • 4 weeks later I had another one which was 4mm and was told all was fine.
  • 5 months down the line and I am now having a full on period.
  • as I had the 2 checks such a short time ago do you think it’s likely anything will have changed to require another check up,I hate wasting appointments.
  • thanks.
  • Hi Jack2000,

My name is Keith and I’m one of the Cancer Information Nurse Specialists

    Welcome to the online community.

This sounds like a really worrying time for you right now.

You have done all  the right things up till now and it is hopefully reassuring that you have ben told that everything is fine.

However, with any new or worsening symptoms we would always advise for you to be re assessed as soon as possible. Either by your GP or clinical team or if urgent 111/999.

You won’t be wasting an appointment. Your clinical team/GP would want to know if your symptoms are continuing /worsening. If for nothing else to put your mind at rest. Or to arrange the most appropriate management of your situation.

Human nature is always to go to the worse cased scenario, this isn’t always the case.

There can be many different reasons for post-menopausal bleeding looking at this information on the NHS website may be helpful.

If you think it may be helpful why not give our support line a call and have a chat with one of our nurses to discuss this in a little more detail if required.

    take care.
