Hi netty65,
Welcome to our online community and thanks for posting your concerns. My name is Amy and I’m one of the nurses on the support line.
Sorry to hear you are having left side discomfort and are feeling anxious that this may be due to cancer. It’s only natural to worry when you are ‘googling’ and it always says cancer.
It would be helpful to get back in touch with your GP to discuss your FIT test results, your ongoing left side discomfort and concerns about what is causing this.
Although your bloods are ‘all good’ a raised FIT result would usually trigger further investigations, like a colonoscopy. Local pathways vary and this is why it is important to speak to your GP and ask what these results and ongoing symptoms mean for you and what the next steps are. They will also be able to explain if you fit the referral criteria for more investigations or give reassurance as to why you do not and whether safety netting, monitoring or follow-up is needed.
If you are unable to get a GP appointment or you have any new or worsening symptoms, it’s important to call 111 to be assessed.
I hope this helps and please get back in touch if you need any more information or support.
Best wishes,
Amy C, Cancer Information Nurse Specialist
