Hi Katken,
Thanks for getting in touch and welcome to our online community. I’m Rachel, one of the cancer information nurses on the support line.
I’m sorry to see that you’re having problems with connecting your nephrostomy to a night bag and the company haven’t been able to help with this. I can imagine that this must be very frustrating for you.
Here on the support line, we aren’t linked to the NHS and don’t have access to medical records so aren’t able to give you specific advice about the bags being used.
We’d suggest you contact the person or department responsible for your nephrostomy, that might be your cancer team at the hospital or your GP and district nurses in the community. They should be able to advise you and help with any problems you’re having with fitting your bags and may be able to offer different bags for you to try.
If you’re unable to contact them and need urgent support with your nephrostomy you can call NHS111. They can give urgent medical advice 24 hours a day.
In the meantime, you might also like to take a look at our online community groups, we have forums for different cancer types and experiences. They can be a great place to share information and support with others in a similar situation.
I hope this information is useful. Please don’t hesitate to get back in contact by email, webchat or phone, if you need further information or support.
The Macmillan Support Line offers practical, clinical, financial and emotional support. You can call us free from landlines and from most mobile phone networks* on 0808 808 00 00, 7 days a week, 8am – 8pm.
Best wishes
Rachel,
Cancer Information Nurse Specialist
