Pain relief

Hi there, my partners treatments are no longer working & have stopped. He will now die of brain metastasis, all I really need to know is when the time comes & he is in terrible pain from it will there be adequate pain relief for him. I cannot bear the thought of losing him but him dying in pain is an even worse thought for me Pensive

    I'm so sorry to hear about your partner's situation. It's completely understandable to be concerned about his comfort and pain management during this difficult time.

    Rest assured, there are effective pain relief options available for patients with brain metastasis. Hospice care - NHS  and  NHS England » Palliative and end of life care teams are highly skilled in managing pain and other symptoms to ensure that patients remain as comfortable as possible.

    Hospice care teams are dedicated to ensuring that patients do not suffer and will adjust pain management plans as needed to address any discomfort. It's important to communicate openly with his care team about his pain levels and any concerns you have.

    If you need more specific advice or support, don't hesitate to reach out to his healthcare providers. They can offer the most personalized and immediate guidance.

    Supporting someone with cancer can be exhausting and feel overwhelming at times.  It’s important that you do reach out and get things off your chest.  Please know, you can always call us for support and we’re here every day till 8pm.  Penny Brohn UK also offer free counselling for family members to talk about how their loved one’s cancer is affecting them it and can be extremely helpful with regards to your emotional wellbeing.
