Lump

Hello. I have the doctors Tomorrow but in the mean time I'm looking for some reassurance. On the bottom of my scrotum close to my anus I have quite a large lump. I can feel it on the outside of the scrotum it's flat and hard but inside there's a lump which feels like it's attached to the inside of the scrotum skin. It's not attached to a testicle. The best way to describe it would be to say it feels like a third testicle. It doesn't hurt but the outside of the skin was itchy today. Does this sound cancerous to you or do you have any idea what it may be. Thanks.

  • Hello Wtsmg15,

Thank you for getting in touch with us. I’m Alison, one of the Cancer Information Nurse Specialists who works on the support line here at Macmillan.

It’s understandable you’re concerned that the symptoms you’re experiencing could be cancer. It’s very difficult to know for certain without physical examination and tests or scans, but you’ve done the right thing by making an appointment with your doctor.

Lumps in the anal area can be caused by several conditions such as haemorrhoids, abscesses or anal warts. It’s easy to say, but try not to think too far ahead at the moment and take things one step at a time.

You may not get all the answers from your doctor tomorrow, so if you have questions after your appointment or would like to talk things through, please don’t hesitate to give us a call.

    Take care,

    Alison,

    Cancer Information Nurse Specialist
