I am recieving treatment for a perineal growth which is AIN3. Having had two sessions of EUA and laser to the area I am curious as to how long the treatment will continue.

Thanks in advance

  • Hi Sue,

Thank you for contacting Macmillan Cancer Support. My name is David, one of the Cancer Information Nurse Specialist’s on the Macmillan Support Line.

I am glad to hear you are receiving Examination Under Anaesthetic (EUA) and laser ablation treatment for this AIN3 perineal growth.

Your treatment team are best placed to answer any questions or concerns you may have regarding your treatment. Good communication with your team is key.

An individual’s response to treatment will vary depending on the size, the number, location and grade of AIN and will influence the treatment approach. However, studies have shown three sessions are often required.

An assessment of the treatment response will then be required to determine what follow up / surveillance may be appropriate.

If there is anything else we can help you with please feel free to get back in touch.

    Best wishes

    David, Cancer Information Nurse Specialist
