Hi

I had prostate removed October 24 and finished 20 sessions of radiotherapy 2 weeks ago ,all went well until 3 days after end of treatment. I developed a pain down my left leg from the butt check to and including my calf is this something I should be concerned about .

thanks

  • Hi jd01

Thanks for getting in touch with us and welcome to our online community. I hope you find it a helpful and supportive way to communicate with others. My name is Joanne and I’m one of the Cancer Information Nurse Specialist’s on the  Macmillan Support Line.

You mention that you have completed radiotherapy for prostate cancer 2 weeks ago but 3 days after your treatment ended you developed a new pain from your buttock running down your left leg including your calf.

Here at the Macmillan Support Line, we are able to give general advice and support. We are unable to diagnose on this platform as we don’t have access to your hospital records or test results. We therefore tend to err on the side of caution.

We normally advise people that if they have a new symptom, a symptom that persists gets worse or, is changing then they must report to their doctor in the first instance, so they can physically assess and best manage from there. In this case you should report this to your specialist hospital team. We would recommend you report this today. If you are unable to contact your specialist team you should seek medical advice and assessment from 111.

If there is anything else we can help you with please feel free to get back in touch.

    Best wishes

    Joanne, Cancer Information Nurse Specialist
