Dear AngryA
My name is Alison, and I am one of the Cancer Information Nurses with Macmillan Cancer support. Thank you for getting in touch with us and I hope you find the online community a helpful and supportive environment.
I am really sorry to hear AngryA about the pain and difficulty eating due to chemo-induced mouth ulcers. Some cancer treatment can affect your mouth and cause
Mouth Problems which can be very debilitating and difficult to manage. Please have a look through the Macmillan link above to have a read through the various tips.
It's important to communicate with the healthcare team about the severity of the pain and the impact on eating. They might have additional recommendations or adjustments to the treatment plan to help manage these side effects.
As you are having difficulty in eating it would be best to speak to your team today to rule out any mouth infection that has perhaps arisen. If there are any new, changing or worsening symptoms then we would suggest that call 111 out of hours who could advise and help as your GP may be closed at this time of day.
Take Care
Best wishes
Alison W, Cancer Information Nurse Specialist
