  • Dear Angel,

Thanks for getting in touch and welcome to the online community. My name is Fiona and I’m one of the Macmillan cancer information nurses.

I’m sorry to read about your breast cancer diagnosis. I hope your radiotherapy is going well.

You mention that you are having strong period cramps without bleeding and hot flushes.

Some breast cancer treatments, such as chemotherapy and hormone therapy, can cause menopausal symptoms. However, it’s always important to let your cancer treatment team know if you have any new, changing or worsening symptoms. They are best placed to assess you.

On the Support Line we are separate to the NHS and do not have access to your medical records and so do not have all the information about your situation.

I hope this information helps. Please feel free to get back in touch if you want more information or support.

    Best wishes,

    Fiona P,

    Cancer Information Nurse Specialist
