Testicular cancer

I have had my ultrasound which was for my testicles only, the urologist asked a few wordy questions and also asked me to sit up half way during the scan as if he had seen something, I am also worried as after spending a very long time on the suspected testicle with the scanner then he scanned my kidneys and lymph nodes as well, should I be concerned as he wouldn’t really tell me anything and waiting for results now, just wondering if I should worry a bit with the fact he felt he had to do that as well. I know it could be anything but I’m very straight to the point and just wanna know if I should worry due to this at the scan that it could more likely be looking like cancer, my lump is at the bottom by the way

  • Hello Z2002,

Thanks for getting in touch and welcome to our online community.

My name is Carole and I’m one of the Cancer Information Nurse Specialists on the Macmillan Support Line.

Having tests can be stressful, and it’s only natural to want to know why the doctor scanned the areas they did.

Unfortunately, we can’t say for certain, as we’re not part of your healthcare team, but we do know that a testicular ultrasound can sometimes include kidneys, for different reasons.

Waiting on results can be a difficult time too.

Some people find it helpful to carry on with everyday activities. This can be a welcome distraction from worrying. However, everyone is different, and some people find it hard to concentrate while waiting on results.

There is no right or wrong way to feel.

It’s not unusual to experience a range of emotions, but there are things you can do, that can help.

The NHS Every Mind Matters website has tips and techniques which may be useful. And if you think it would help to talk things over with one of our nurses, please don’t hesitate to give us a call.

    I hope this is helpful.

    Sending best wishes,

    Carole
