Back and thigh pain

I had my last chemo of Docetaxel mid Jan, and a mastectomy four weeks ago.

I'm quite active and currently not taking any medication.

My lower back and strangely my inner thighs are really painful,  more so after sitting, I've been doing exercises twice a day. It only eases when I'm walking.

Should I rest more or carry on exercising?

  • Hello Widget68,

Thank you for getting in touch with us, and welcome to our online community. My name is Annerose, I’m one of the Cancer Information Nurses here at the Macmillan Cancer Support line.

It is good to hear you are quite active and able to do exercises after your chemotherapy and mastectomy.

I understand you have pain in your lower back and inner thighs, especially when sitting.

It is difficult to know what is causing this pain, as there might be several possibilities.

However, I need to let you know that because you've mentioned a new or worsening symptoms, we would always recommend that you contact a doctor, your hospital team or NHS 111 as soon as possible, to talk about that with them, as we don't have access to medical records.

I hope this has been helpful. Please don’t hesitate to get back in touch with us. Often it is easier to discuss things over the phone. The number to call is 0808 808 0000 and we are open from 8am to 8pm every day. Press option 1 then 3 to speak to a nurse.

    Best wishes and take care
