  • Dear

Thanks for getting in touch with Macmillan cancer Support today. My name is Linda, I’m one of the information nurses from our Support Line.

I’m sorry to read about the difficulties you have had with osteonecrosis of the jaw and appreciate that dental charges can be costly, especially when sought privately.

I wonder if this is something that you have discussed with your hospital team, and what they have advised. If not, this would the best place to start.

Help with the cost of dental treatment depends on whether you meet one or more of the criteria listed in our guide, Health costs .

NHS England do have 3 capped charge bands for the cost of their dental services, including making dentures. The current costs will rise from tomorrow, 1st April 2025, to a maximum of £326.70.

You can contact NHS Dental Services for guidance if you live in England on 0300 330 1348, Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm. And they have an online form that you can use too.

This is information about Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland.

The Oral Health Foundation might also be worth contacting on 01788 546 365 or mail@dentalhealth.org.

I hope this information is useful. Please don’t hesitate to get back in contact by email, webchat or phone, if you need further information or support.

The Macmillan Support Line offers practical, clinical, financial and emotional support. You can call us free from landlines and from most mobile phone networks on 0808 808 00 00, 7 days a week, 8am – 8pm.

     Best wishes, Linda
