  • Hello Blondi,

Thanks for getting in touch with us and welcome to our online community.  I’m Linda, one of the nurses from our support line.

I hope you are finding the vulva cancer forum supportive. You may find our information on vulval cancer helpful.

It’s natural to be scared when you have been told you have cancer. It can cause emotions and worries that can be very hard to cope with. The cancer team at the hospital will focus on the treatment plan that they have recommended for you or will recommend for you.

You can ask them to clarify what this means for you and these examples of questions to ask may help.

It’s not unusual to wonder how long you may live. Each person is affected differently by their condition, this can also depend on their age, general health, and treatment. Two people, with the same type and stage of cancer can have a different prognosis/survival.

It may be helpful to contact us by phone or webchat to discuss your current situation in more detail. This will give you the opportunity to go through any concerns you have, talk through the next steps or any treatment options you may have been recommended. This can help us to give you the best guidance and relevant information. You can also use Ask a Nurse again if you prefer.

    I hope this helps.

    Take care and best wishes,

Linda J.  (Cancer Information Nurse Specialist)
