Compression bras

Hi,

Following surgery, chemo and radiotherapy, I'm now cancer free but have developed breast lymphodema.

Does anyone know where I can find a pretty compression bra?  Every site I've found so far features the same drab colours and designs.  I realise that compression bras are designed to be super supportive and are therefore cut differently, but do they have to be so ugly and only available in black, white or nude?

  • Hello Laineybj,

Thanks for getting in touch. My name is Megan, I’m one of the Cancer Information Nurses on the Macmillan Support Line.

Welcome to the Online Community. I can see you have joined the Breast cancer forum and the New to the Community forum, I hope you have been finding these communities supportive.

I am sorry to hear you have been experiencing lymphoedema from your breast cancer treatment. I hope our information on compression treatment for lymphoedema is useful to know.

I did a few quick online searches (“compression bras”, “pretty compression bras”) and found in addition to the standard nude, white and black there were some other colours and designs available. Many are advertised as post-surgery bras or sports bras, and it is unclear if these would be appropriate specifically for you.

Therefore, I do encourage if you see a design or style you do like to then ask your lymphoedema specialist or breast cancer nurse specialist if it is appropriate for you.

I hope this information is useful. Please don’t hesitate to get back in contact by email, webchat or phone, if you need further information or support.
