I don’t know if I have sent this to correct people as I’m new to this website sorry if it’s totally wrong.
many thanks.
ps just a bit worried as it says online only sent off if something is found?

  • Hello,

Thanks for getting in touch, and welcome to our online community.

My name is Carole and I’m one of the Cancer Information Nurse Specialists on the Macmillan Support Line.

There’s no need to apologise for posting a question here.

The NHS app can be a helpful way to see your health records, but seeing information you’re not expecting, can be confusing or worrying.

I’m sorry to read that you are a bit worried, however samples are routinely sent to labs after surgery.

I’ve found some patient information which has been produced by Buckinghamshire Healthcare which might be helpful to read.

In the section, ‘what else happens’, they say that,

‘We will send your uterus (plus ovaries and tubes if removed) for detailed examination in the pathology laboratory to rule out any serious disease. We do this even when we don’t suspect anything serious’.

I appreciate this may not be the area you live in, but this is standard practice in the UK.

I hope this is helpful and wish you a speedy recovery.

    Best wishes,

    Carole
