  • Hi Hnr

Thanks for getting in touch and welcome to the online community.

My name is Paula and I am one of the Cancer Information Nurse Specialists on the Macmillan Support Line.

I am sorry to hear you’re experiencing a rash on your breast that has been previously treated for a benign lump. I can understand your concerns about your current symptoms and the discomfort it’s causing you.

Here at Macmillan, we can give general advice and support. We are independent from the NHS and don’t have access to medical records so cannot give personalised information.

It’s natural to worry about symptoms and to google the cause but there could be several reasons why your rash has become more sore, itchy and aggressive and not necessarily due to inflammatory breast cancer.

As you have previously seen the GP and have worsening symptoms, we suggest reporting these concerns back to the GP as soon as possible. They would want to hear if the cream they prescribed isn’t working or causing your symptoms to worsen. They are also in an ideal position to reassess you and refer you for further investigations if necessary.

I know this a worrying time for you, it’s not unusual to feel this way. Here at Macmillan, we offer a range of support and services you can access. You may find this link helpful to look at.

Breast Cancer Now also offer a range of support and advice, including information on breast rashes

I hope you find this information helpful.

Please don’t hesitate to get back in touch if you’d like to talk things through. Some people find it reassuring to talk through there concerns.

    Kind regards

    Paula
