Hello.  I have noticed that I keep getting lumps in my groin which can be painful.  My question is can you develop swollen lymph nodes either side of the vaginal lips quite far back?  I get one around every 3 weeks on one side or both.  They stay a few days then go down.

I’ve also started to experience night sweats and itchy skin.  My father had leukaemia a few years ago.

what is your opinion?

many thanks

Debbie

  • Hi Debbie,

Thanks for getting in touch and a warm welcome to our online community. My name is Suzanne and I am one of the cancer information nurse specialists here at Macmillan.

I see that you have joined a number of our forums and hope you have found this helpful.

It’s only natural to be worried if you have unexplained symptoms. But it’s important to say that lumps can appear for any number of reasons.

Unfortunately, we are not able to comment on this platform as to the cause of these lumps in your case. But as they are new, are painful and are concerning you, we would always suggest you contact your GP for a medical assessment as soon as you can. If you are finding it difficult to get an appointment you can also call 111 24 hours a day.

Swollen lymph nodes can appear throughout the body, including the groin area, and along with sweats can sometimes be an indicator of an infection so it’s important to get this checked out as soon as you can.

Take care and please feel free to reach out again if you need to.

    Best wishes and take care,

    Suzanne, Cancer Information Nurse Specialist
