Hello
I have to start this diet late march and am trying to gather info .
Has anyone done this recently, how did you get on?
I am struggling to find a milk replacement that does not have added iodine/sea salt.
Thanks

Hello Nevs25,
Thanks for getting in touch. My name’s Michael, one of the Cancer Information Nurse Specialists on the Macmillan Support Line. It’s great to see you have connected with the Thyroid Cancer Forum
It’s understandable you’re looking to get some more information about a low iodine diet and prepare as much as you can. Your consultant, clinical nurse specialist or GP, should be able to refer you to a dietitian, who will be able to provide you with support and advice at this time. The World Cancer Research Fund also has a Cancer and Nutrition Helpline with Oncology Specialist Dietitians to answer all of your questions.
The Butterfly Thyroid Cancer Trust has some information about Low Iodine Diet as well as a help and support line. British Thyroid Foundation also have resources about Low Iodine Diet too, as well as patient forums and telephone support.
Always check with your medical team before starting any form of dietary change, especially a low iodine diet.
I do hope this information is helpful.
You can always give us a call and can talk more with one of our nurses on the support line. It’s a free phone number on 0808 808 0000 and we are here 7 days a week, 8am-8pm or email us.
Best Wishes
Michael
