I was diagnosed brain cancer a month ago and had the surgeon done then.  Ive yet to talk to the surgeon who did the work, just nurses and "Hollywood doctors' who tell me nothing.  I need some direction as to where I can fine pros/cons of difference directions....chemo, and other directions.   I live about 100 miles away from  moffitt cancer center  in  Tampa FL and am  going to speak with them as my current health first is horrible.   I will still like to get a third opinion even though Moffitt is rated as excellent.   Any links/tips on recomendations I can read up on currently before I go to  Mofitt?  And as a newbie to this forum, any thing you can recommendate?  Thanks in advance

    Hi BrianH,

Thank you for contacting Macmillan Cancer Support. My name is David, one of the Cancer Information Nurse Specialist’s on the Macmillan Support Line.

I am sorry to hear of your brain cancer diagnosis and your current concerns. We will always advise to have a further discussion with your consultant in the first instance, regarding  any concerns you may have.

Your healthcare team in the Moffitt Cancer Centre are best placed to answer any questions you may have on treatment options or possible clinical trials that may be open to you.

As a UK-based charity, it’s difficult for us to reply in detail to questions about people with cancer who live outside the United Kingdom. This is because there are differences in health services and care in other countries. You can read about UK standard treatment for cancer here on our website.

You can also check for overseas cancer organisations here.

If there is anything else, we can help you with please feel free to get back in touch.

    Best wishes

    David, Cancer Information Nurse Specialist
