Hi Skye Rose
Thanks for getting in touch and welcome to our online community. My name is Sherrye and I’m one of the Cancer Information Nurse Specialists on the Macmillan Support Line.
I can see you’ve joined one of our forums, I do hope you’re finding it an informative and supportive place.
I’m so very sorry to hear that the melanoma is now in your lungs and the immunotherapy treatment has not worked. This must understandably be a very emotional time for you, if you feel it would help to speak with us you are more than welcome to call the Macmillan Support Line anytime.
Obtaining a private consultation at the Royal Marsden for a second opinion is something you can do and won’t affect your visits to the Velindre. However, if you decided to start any private treatment with the Royal Marsden then your care would be transferred across unless joint care was the agreed plan.
If you were to choose to have private care, you don’t lose your right to NHS treatment and you can move back to NHS care at any time, however some treatments that may be available privately, may not be available on the NHS.
I hope this information helps. Please feel free to get back in touch if you want more information or support.
Best wishes,
Sherrye H,
Cancer Information Nurse Specialist
