I've opted for my Flu/Covid jabs tomorrow. Is there any conflict with me taking the Arovi jabs as well

I was admitted on the 28th and had thoracic surgery for solitary pulmonary nodules in the right lower lobe. This is following colorectal resection in 2023 for colorectal cancer.

I'm two weeks into my recovery but still have tenderness in my right side chest. Is it normal  after all this time and how long can I expect it to prolong. I have not yet had a follow up appointment

  • Hi Jagman

Thank you for contacting Macmillan Cancer Support. My name is Joanne, one of the Cancer Information Nurse Specialist’s on the  Macmillan Support Line.

I’m sorry to hear you have had a recurrence of your colorectal cancer but it is positive that you were able to have surgery for a solitary lung nodule.

Here at Macmillan, we don’t have access to NHS medical records. This means we can only give general advice and information and tend to err on the side of caution. You have described continuing symptoms, so we recommend you contact your specialist team to report that you are still experiencing tenderness in your right side.

The Royal College of Surgeons of England have general information sheets to help people understand what to expect after surgery. You may find the information on “Lung Resection” helpful.

With regard to taking Arovi on the day of your Flu/Covid vaccinations, you should inform the healthcare professional administering your vaccinations that you are on blood thinning injections. They will then be able to assess if it is safe for you to go ahead and have your vaccinations.

If there is anything else we can help you with please feel free to get back in touch.

    Best wishes

    Joanne, Cancer Information Nurse Specialist
