Hi my husband has had a pet scan as they suspect lung cancer. I have a copy of his lung xray and try to compare online to others with lung cancer. Is there someone that could look at the xray?

Dear DLMI,
Thank you for writing in with your question to us at Ask a Nurse. My name is Carla, and I’m one of the Cancer Information Nurse Specialists here at the Macmillan Support Line.
I am sorry to hear that your husband is undergoing investigations for a suspected lung cancer.
Unfortunately, as nurses here on the support line, we would not be able to look at your husband’s x-ray.
Here at the Macmillan Support Line, we provide free, confidential, generalised cancer information and emotional support. We are separate from the NHS services and therefore unable to access patient records to give individualised advice.
We understand that waiting for results can be an extremely anxious time for both your husband and yourself, regardless of how the results turn out. There is no right or wrong way for you to feel while you wait. It may reassure you a bit that it is common to feel scared, worried, and anxious at this time.
If you think it may be helpful to chat things over in more detail with one of the nurses here, please do give us a call. We can often explain things better over a spoken call with the opportunity to ask questions.
I hope this helps to guide you. Don’t hesitate to come back if you need anything.
Best wishes,
Carla, Cancer Information Nurse Specialist
