Hi Sazzy2,
Thanks for getting in touch. I’m Eileen one of the Cancer Information Nurses on the support line.
As immunotherapy treatment can be used for a range of different malignancies the schedule of treatment can vary depending on the specific cancer being treated and the type of immunotherapy being given.
Scans to assess response may take place a few months after commencing treatment or midway through treatment depending on the number of treatment cycles that are planned.
If doctors are concerned that the treatment may not be working, they may request a scan at an earlier point.
We would suggest that you speak to the medical team involved in planning the treatment. As they have all the relevant medical information, they are best placed to discuss this with you.
I do hope this information is helpful.
If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to get back in touch. You can speak with the Macmillan Support Line on 0808 808 0000 (7 days a week, 8am-8pm) or email us.
Best wishes,
