Hi
we have received a letter saying previous PET scan shows metastatic liver andenopathy. Can you explain this term please.
Dear Finth05,
My name is Liz, and I’m one of the cancer information nurse specialists on the Macmillan support line.
Thank you for reaching out for information after you received a letter reporting the results of a previous PET scan.
As Macmillan is not part of the NHS, we don’t have access to your medical notes. For this reason, your treatment team are better placed to answer specific questions about investigations and scans. It would be useful for you to contact your clinical nurse specialist or consultant to discuss your scan results as soon as you can.
Scan results should always be looked at as part of a bigger picture to guide your care and treatment recommendations.
We can break down metastatic liver adenopathy into three parts.
From the information you have shared I’m unsure where on your cancer journey you are, it might be helpful to contact us on the support line to discuss your health further with us, so we can support you more fully.
Take care.
Liz

Thank you for your reply,
we spoke with consultant and this was a typo in the letter, phew as no one has discussed liver with us. My dad has oral cancer and receiving treatment, we knew about the lymph nodes.
