Hello

I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer in March 2023.  It's Grade 1 cells and Stage 1 cancer.

My understanding is that Stage 1 is that it's remained within the womb, and Grade 1 cells are very like regular cells in appearance.

I know that Stages can change as cancer progresses. But what I'd like to know, is if the Grade of cell can change.

If my cancer was left could it ever be that the Grade 1 becomes a Grade 2?

thanks

You’re correct that Stage 1 womb cancer means the cancer is confined to the womb, and Grade 1 indicates that the cancer cells look quite similar to normal cells and tend to grow slowly.

    Can the Grade Change?

Yes, the grade of cancer can change over time. If left untreated, Grade 1 endometrial cancer can potentially progress to a higher grade, such as Grade 2 or Grade 3. This progression means the cancer cells become more abnormal in appearance and behaviour, indicating a more aggressive and faster-growing cancer.

    Importance of Monitoring and Treatment

Regular monitoring and appropriate treatment are crucial to manage the cancer effectively and prevent it from progressing to a higher grade or stage. Your healthcare team can provide the best guidance on how to proceed based on your specific situation.

At Macmillan we have a Womb cancer forum | Macmillan Online Community which you can have a look through the various topics and discussions.
