Rapid changes in breast

Hi. I found out today that my MRI scan last week shows a 63mm mass in left breast.  There is something they want to check on my right breast picked up on MRI. I am to have ultrasound and possibly biopsy on that next week.  My oncology appointment tomorrow has been cancelled to give time for that to happen and for my CT scan done Wednesday to come through to them,

the plan from initially mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy on 27t Sept was chemo, immunotherapy and surgery after 4 months. In the space of a week I feel my breast is getting bigger and tonight there is a fluid build up on the rhs of my leafy breast, the opposite side of same breast to where mass was biopsied and detected.

Should I be getting in touch with my cancer nurse tomorrow ?  I  am ER8, progesterone 0, HER2positive, and they detected cancer I lymph too.

any advice or insight would be helpful.  I am freaking out a bit about how rapidly it is changing.

  • Hi Marhelkil,
Thank you for contacting us and welcome back to the online community. I’m Lorna one of the cancer information nurse specialists on the support line.
I’m sorry to hear you have been feeling anxious about the rapid changes to your breast.
From what you have said it looks like you are still having tests and investigations to fully stage and grade your breast cancer. Even although your appointment has been cancelled you can still get in touch with your consultant or the breast care nurse with any concerns you might have. You can contact the consultant via their secretary.
It's important to rule out any infection following your biopsy. You can contact your GP too, they will be able to assess you and provide treatment if needed.
Talking to someone about your thoughts and feelings can help you with and stress and anxiety you may be feeling. It can be a frightening time waiting to start your treatment and full of uncertainty. You might find it helpful to talk to Anxiety UK or MIND have helpful advice and information too.

I hope this has been helpful, but please don’t hesitate to get back in touch if you need any further information or support.

    Best wishes and take care,
    Lorna (cancer information nurse specialist)
