Microblading after radiotherapy

Good evening

Please can you let me know if it is safe to have my eyebrows micro bladed? I was diagnosed with DCIS in May, had a lumpectomy and completed my radiotherapy on Tuesday. I did not need chemo. I have had my eyebrows micro bladed before with no problems.

Also,I’m finding my affected armpit is sweaty, even after a shower. I was on HRT up until my diagnosis and am now on Letrozole. I have been using E45 twice daily after shower/ washing and then Bionsen deodorant but I soon feel conscious of body odour. Is there anything I can do to prevent this?

Thank you

Wendy

  • Hi WackyNY

    Welcome to the online community.

I can see you have joined the breast cancer forum. I hope you’re finding it helpful to share your experience with us.

I am glad to hear that you have completed your breast cancer treatment and I hope that you are making a good recovery from your lumpectomy and radiotherapy.

We always advise that you speak to your specialist nurse or a doctor on your treatment team before going ahead with microblading. They will be able to advise you as to whether you should allow some time before having the procedure.

If they advise it is safe to go ahead it is important that you use a reputable and experienced cosmetic practitioner and have sensitivity test prior to going ahead. You might also find the information on Cancer Hair Care’s website helpful.

It is not uncommon for people who have had lymph nodes removed from an armpit to notice a change in the amount of sweat that is produced on that side. Some people have found that this settles after some months. The letrozole may also be contributing to the increased sweat as it is a well-known side effect of the drug.

I would advise that you speak to your specialist nurse to advise you on what you may use to help. If the sweating is severe there maybe other medications that can be used to help control this.

I hope this information has been useful, please contact us whenever we can help.

    Take care.
