Hello to you all, my partners in for no crime committed Wink

️I’ve been on THP regime since the end of May and with two more infusions left, I’ve been offered to participate in the Inavolisib trial (UK) along side my Phesgo, once my chemo is done.

Are any of you familiar with the drug?

Thank you kindly

Kate

  • Hello Kate,

Thanks for getting in touch and welcome to our online community.

My name is Carole and I’m one of the Cancer Information Nurse Specialists on the Macmillan Support Line.

I’ve had a look at your profile and can see that you have posted your question in our ‘Breast Cancer forum’. It’s such a supportive group, although it’s difficult to know whether anyone has experience of this treatment. It might be worth posting a message on our online chemotherapy forum too.

I have read about a worldwide trial, but it would be helpful if you could confirm the name of the trial, you have been offered to participate in. This helps us to ensure that we are providing accurate information.

We have this general information about clinical trials which you might find helpful to read, although your oncologist in best placed to explain the specifics of the trial, and to answer any questions you have.

It might help too, to post your question in one of the ‘Breast Cancer Now’ forums.

If you would like to talk to one of the nurses on our Support Line, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We often find that we can give more detailed information about individual situations after talking, as it allows up to ask questions.

    I hope this is helpful.

    Sending best wishes,

    Carole

  • Hi

Thanks for getting back in touch with us Kate, and for providing more information. My name is Amy, and I’m one of the nurses on the support line.

Many find the limited information available when taking part in a clinical trial of a new drug difficult. We would encourage you to speak to your clinical trials team. They may be able to offer more insight for you.

WO44263: INAVO122 - Inavolisib in HER2+ Breast Cancer is a phase III, randomized, double binded, placebo-controlled trial. This means that neither you or the research team will know if you are having Inavolisib or the placebo drug.

As Carole said, posting your question in our online forum as well as Breast Cancer Now and Cancer Research UK may help you may find someone else who are part of the same trial, or one that has used this particular drug before.

Please do reach out to us if you have any more questions.

We often find we can help more by exploring these questions over the phone. If this is something you think would help, then please don’t hesitate to get in touch via our support line on 0808 808 0000. We are available 7 days a week, 8am-8pm.

    I hope this helps.

    Best wishes,

Amy C, Cancer Information Nurse Specialist
