Hello

I'm new to the forum and seven years in with colorectal cancer and liver and lung secondaries. Lots of different treatments so far but soon SIRT seems to be an option and I'd like to find out what centres in Scotland and England currently offer it please?

Thank you

Jon

  • Hi Darksky

Thanks for getting in touch and welcome to the online community. I hope that you will find it a supportive environment. My name is Helen and I’m one of the Macmillan cancer information nurses.

Selective internal radiotherapy treatment (SIRT) is currently available at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and several hospitals in England. Please find further information here.

However, NHS England’s 2019 Clinical Commissioning Policy for SIRT states that there is only enough evidence to make treatment available for adults where the metastatic disease is limited to the liver only (page 7).

Please do discuss this treatment with your clinical team, as there might be clinical trials that you may be eligible for.

I hope this information helps. Please feel free to get back in touch if you want more information or support.

    Best wishes,

    Helen K
