  • Hi Miss mole. Welcome to the online community. My name is Anne, and I am one of the nurses on the Support Line. I see you have joined a few of our forums already and I hope you have found them useful so far. I’m sorry to read you were diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer and I hope you have been recovering well since your thyroidectomy.

As we do not have access to your medical records nor are directly involved in your care, we are unable to advise on specific medications. It may be helpful to speak to your GP today to ensure they are happy for you to remain on this dose until you speak to your Consultant next Thursday. If you are unable to contact your GP, your Clinical Nurse Specialist at the Hospital may be able to advise you. If you’re unsure of their contact details, you can contact your Consultant’s secretary.  For many patients, it’s possible to reduce the dose, however this needs to be done under supervision of their Doctor or Specialist Nurse.

In the meantime, if you are at all concerned about any new or worsening symptoms which may be related to low calcium levels or high calcium levels, please do contact your GP or 111 if out with normal hours.

If there is anything else we can help with or you’d just like a confidential chat with one of my colleagues, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us again.

    Take care for now,

Anne - Cancer Information Nurse Specialist
