Mucoepidermoid Carcinoma - SYMPTOMS?

Good morning!  I have been diagnosed with mucoepidermoid carcinoma 2 weeks ago and have an appointment tomorrow for staging after my CT and MRI.  I am not sure what the symptoms are as I have only had a lump with no pain and no other effects.  This last week my head feels like I have been hanging upside down, I have pressure in my ear, I feel dizzy.  my right eye is blurred and I feel very sick and have lost my appetite (and I love my food!)  Could this all be because of the cancer? If so, is there anything I can try for the sickness?

Thanks for getting in touch and welcome to our online community. My name is Suzanne and I am one of the cancer information nurse specialists here at Macmillan

I see that you haven't joined any of our online forums as yet and wondered whether you may find our Head and Neck Cancer forum supportive. There is never any pressure to join any of the forums, but it can sometimes help to connect with others in similar circumstances.

It sounds as though you are struggling with a number of symptoms at the moment. These may well be related to your Mucoepidermoid Carcinoma but unfortunately it is not possible for us to assess the cause of your symptoms via this platform.

As these are new symptoms we would always advise you to reach out for immediate medical assessment either by calling your GP, cancer consultant or clinical nurse specialist. That way they can investigate your symptoms and prescribe the appropriate treatment to help you to feel better.

If you are unable to get through to any of the above, please call 111 straight away. The 111 service is available even during working hours and will support you to make sure your symptoms are attended to as quickly as possible.

If your symptoms suddenly worsen or you feel unsafe you should call 999 instead.

Our information around eating problems and cancer may also help you to cope with feeling sick and having no appetite.

I hope that this information is helpful Lalaland. Please do reach out again if we can support you further.

You may also wish to give us a call on our support line. Being diagnosed with cancer can feel overwhelming at times and if it would help to talk, we are here every day from 8am -8pm on 0808 808 0000.

    Best wishes and take care,

    Suzanne, Cancer Information Nurse Specialist
