  • Hi ,

Welcome to our online community and thanks for posting your question. My name is Amy and I am one of the Cancer Information Nurse Specialists on the Macmillan Support Line.

I hope you are recovering well from your hysterectomy. It’s only natural to feel anxious about your upcoming chemoradiation and its side effects. Especially if you have tinnitus and hearing loss already.

It would be helpful to get in touch with your team who are dealing with the chemoradiation treatment. This may include the clinical nurse specialist (CNS), key worker or consultant, usually via their secretary. Highlighting your concerns will give them an opportunity to discuss the risk vs. benefits of having cisplatin and explore other possible chemotherapy options and how this could affect your overall treatment.

As we can’t access your NHS medical records it’s difficult for me to give you a clear answer on this, but we would be more than happy to explore questions to ask your healthcare team. You may also find our making treatment decisions information useful.

We often find we can help more by exploring these questions over the phone. If this is something you think would help, then please don’t hesitate to get in touch via our support line on 0808 808 0000. 0808 808 0000 (7 days a week, 8am-8pm). You can also send an email or reply to this post, and we aim to reply within 2 days.

    I hope this helps.

    Best wishes,

Amy C, Cancer Information Nurse Specialist
