Hi

Hi Dan80,
I’m Kirsty one of the cancer information nurse specialists that work on the Macmillan support line.
Thanks for getting in touch. You might also consider having a look at our online community for support. There is a skin cancer forum or you can post on the new to community group.
It is not clear if this ask is regarding yourself, or someone close to you. For any discussion about cancer treatment or treatment options, please make an appointment with the consultant to talk through further.
Before suggesting a treatment option, a team of specialists meet to discuss test results and decide which treatment will offer the most benefit. This is called a multidisciplinary team meeting. They consider national treatment guidelines, based on evidence and research.
Here is a treatment overview for skin cancer that will be considered.
I appreciate that you are asking about Nicotinamide, which is not mentioned in the treatment overview. Information in the link suggests that additional studies are needed to look at how this might reduce the risk of getting certain types of skin cancer. Nicotinamide is currently licenced to treat acne.
I am unable to comment on how helpful this prescription might be but do have a chat to the consultant if you would like more information.
Best wishes.
Kirsty, Cancer Information Nurse Specialist
