Hi there

My Mum who is 85 has lung cancer and had treatment in Dec 23. The tumour was shrank to a level that the Doctor was happy with. A few weeks ago it was discovered that there is a cancerous brain tumour and the life expectancy is 2-6 months. Mother on steroids and that has helped restore her speech. Would there be any benefit in any using cannabis product to extend life expectancy?

  • Hi Jerry

Welcome to the online community. My name is Sarah one of the cancer information nurses.

I’m sorry to read that your mum has a cancerous brain tumour with life expectancy of 2-6 months. This sounds like a difficult time for you. You may find it helpful to talk this through with one of our nurses or emotional support team. Our support line is open 8am to 8pm 7 days a week.

It is good to read that steroids have helped restore your mum’s speech and I can understand your question about the benefit of cannabis.

Here is information from our website about cannabis oil and cancer but much of this has yet to be researched. I hope this is useful for you.

You may find it helpful Jerry to reach out for support through our online community or the Brain tumour charity. It can be helpful to talk through with others going through similar experiences.

I hope this information helps. Please feel free to get back in touch if you want more information or support.

    Best wishes,

    Sarah
