Hi, Bowel Babe T2 ( & other risk factors) here:

NHS is starting to use DCT, but in limited fashion, and I've been told by my oncologist I'm not a candidate.

I have had Bowel Cancer removed, 1 Primary,  and 1 tiny secondary ( near spine) with cancerous deposits around a nerve, however no spread to Lymph Nodes, or nearby blood vessels.

I haven't started chemo yet, only 6 weeks since operation, and I would like to ask both Nurses and patients

Has anyone any experience of " Immucura" . They are offering DCT. Using German/Spanish Laboratories. With blood collection/Immunising in London and Birmingham.

ThankYou

  • Hello Bowel Babe 2

Thanks for getting in touch with our online community. My name is Helen and I am one of the Cancer Information Nurse Specialists on the Macmillan Support Line. I’d like to welcome you to the community and hope that you find it a supportive environment.

I hope you are recovering well from your, surgery and wish you well with your upcoming chemotherapy.

Currently, dendritic cell treatment is not used as a standard treatment for cancer in the UK, although the NHS Cancer Vaccine Launch Pad (CVLP) is a project aiming to establish the feasibility of pathways to enable NHS patients with cancer to access cancer vaccine trials.

Although we are aware that Immucura are offering dendritic cell therapy, we have no direct contact with them or access to any of their research results to comment on its trials or outcomes.

You may like to post your question on one of our forums in our online community to see if anyone has personal experience of its use.

I hope this information is useful. Please don’t hesitate to call to speak through your concerns. If you are unable to call, you might consider speaking to us via webchat.

The Macmillan Support Line offers practical, clinical, financial, and emotional support. You can call us free from landlines and from most mobile phone networks on 0808 808 00 00, 7 days a week, 8am – 8pm.
