I am still in the investigation stages and awaiting a treatment plan, should I get the covid booster now?
Dear AberdeenL,
Thank you for contacting Macmillan and joining our online community. I hope you find it helpful. My name is Denise, I am one of the Macmillan Cancer Information Nurses.
I am sorry to read you are currently undergoing investigations to establish stages of the cancer and are waiting for a treatment plan. This must be a very difficult time for you.
Generally, the Covid booster is safe to have anytime for the majority of people, however the side effects of the vaccine can make people unwell for a few days and therefore timing might be important for your team.
If I may suggest contact your team and discuss timing of the booster vaccine as your team will be able to check if you are scheduled for any investigations and treatment. If you have been unwell following your previous Covid vaccinations, you may feel unwell again after the booster vaccine too.
I hope you find this information useful and please do get back in touch with us if you have more questions.
Best wishes,
Denise
