Good evening

I finished chemotherapy two months ago and my ct scan afterwards was clear. My diagnosis was bowel cancer. My concern is that I’m putting on weight rapidly and I’m eating healthier then ever and exercise 4-5 times a week. It doesn’t feel right. I’m also getting pain in my breast and lower stomach. Now my consultant has discharged me I don’t know where to go with these concerns but I’m scared something has gone wrong.

  • Welcome to the online community.

I can see you have joined the bowel cancer forum. I hope you’re finding it helpful to share your experience with us.

I am sorry to hear that you are having breast, lower stomach pain and unexplained weight gain.

However, as you have experienced breast pain you should get an urgent assessment of your symptoms. When someone has any pain in the chest area we would always have a concern that this could be related to your heart and you should therefore call 999 immediately so they can make an assessment of your symptoms and arrange any care that you need.

Generally speaking, if you do have any symptoms which are new, increasing or worsening you should get them checked straight away by your GP as you have been discharged from your hospital team. Out of hours you should call 111 and if it is a life threatening emergency call 999.

It is not unusual for people to worry about the cancer coming back and it is important for you to get support when you need it.

I hope this information has been useful, please contact us whenever we can help.

    Take care.
