I'm dad's carer. He has stage 4 lung cancer.  Diagnosed in 2018 but diagnosed wirh stage 4 in Sept 2022 and told he had 9 to 12 months but is doing well considering

Was spread to lymph nodes in 2022 and adrenal gland

Recently his eye sight is changing so I'm booking him for eye test. He thinks it could be cattaract.  I'm wondering if it's cancer related. He is getting blurry vision with glasses on around edge of eyesight I think in one eye

I've noticed his eyelid looks a bit larger and it looks like he has a bit of a droop

Any advice? Will optician be looking for other things other than eyesight?

  • Dear Carmenuk

Thank you for contacting us here at Macmillan Cancer Support.  My name is Rae and I am a cancer information nurse specialist here on the Support Line.

Carmen, it is very important that you contact your dad’s lung cancer team as soon as possible.  They will want to rule out anything cancer related as a matter of urgency.  If you are unable to contact his team, then please telephone his GP or 111.  It is important that he is seen today for his symptoms to be assessed.

Please do telephone our support line if you want to speak to a nurse following his assessment by one of the above teams.  We are deliberately keeping this contact with you short, because of the urgency, but we are here to support you and would like to going forward.

    Best wishes

    Rae, Cancer Information Nurse Specialist
