  • Hi Debs,

Thanks for getting in touch. My name is Sarah and I’m one of the nurses on the Macmillan Support Line.

It’s understandable to feel a bit nervous while you are waiting to see your breast consultant. You haven’t mentioned when the appointment is but I hope it’s coming up soon.

Knowing which treatment that your consultant may suggest is difficult to know as you haven’t got any more information other than cell changes. Your consultant may suggest a biopsy if they feel this is clinically indicated.

The best thing to try and do at the moment is not second guess what this could all mean. I appreciate this is difficult as lots of people worry about cancer coming back when they have new symptoms after a cancer diagnosis.

This is the time when people reach for the internet when they haven’t got all the answers. Try not to do this Debs as you can be lead down a rabbit hole of information that may not even be relevant to your situation.

Although the nurses on the support line are not part of the NHS or have access to your medical records, we would be more than happy to talk things through with you and provide a listening ear if you would like to call us.

I hope this information is helpful, but if there is anything else we can help you with please don’t hesitate to get back in touch.

    Take care and best wishes,

    Sarah (Cancer Information Nurse Specialist)
