thank you

  • Hi Caravans

Welcome to the Online Community here at Macmillan. My name is Vanessa and I am one of the information nurses.

I see from your profile that you have joined our ovarian cancer and living with incurable cancer forums. I hope you find the support of others in similar circumstances helpful and reassuring to have.

Thank you for getting in touch and sharing how worried you are. For many people, with a cancer diagnosis, any physical change can make them worry that this is related to their cancer, or a new cancer developing. This is very understandable, but this may not be the case.

For any new, persisting, or worsening change or symptom we always recommend that you book an appointment with your GP. There are several potential causes of skin lesions, and the GP is best placed to assess what may be causing yours and take the appropriate action.

I can also see that you have previously had chemotherapy and I’m sure your treatment team explained that chemotherapy can cause changes which may persist after chemotherapy has finished. One of these can be increased sensitivity to the sun. We would therefore always advise that you follow NHS sun safety advice.

I hope you find this information helpful. You can also always call one of our nurses directly if you want to talk over your concerns or require any further support.

    Take care
