  • Hi CarrieBoo

Welcome to the Online Community here at Macmillan. I hope you find it a helpful place to access support and ask questions. My name is Vanessa and I am one of the information nurses.

As you know, tamoxifen is a hormone treatment, used to treat breast cancer. It is normally used if you haven’t been through the menopause, but is also used after the menopause in some situations.

Tamoxifen is given for varying lengths of time, depending on individual situations and how well the medication is tolerated. As we cannot see your NHS records we are unable to advise if your hormone treatment needs reviewing.

If you had an allocated breast cancer nurse specialist, you can always contact them to ask about your tamoxifen treatment. Just to remind you, the nurse specialists are rarely in the office when you phone so do leave a message including your preferred contact phone number and they will normally get back to you. If they can’t answer your questions, they can usually have a chat with your consultant and come back to you.

If you didn’t have an allocated nurse specialist, you can speak to your GP, and they may be able to advise further or seek further clarification for you.

I hope you find this information helpful. You can also always call one of our nurses directly if you want to talk over your concerns or require any further support.

    Take care
