Hello Milliemoomoo,
Thanks for getting in touch, and welcome to our online community.
My name is Carole and I’m one of the Cancer Information Nurse Specialists on the Macmillan Support Line.
I can appreciate that you would like to know if it is safe to take tart cherry juice while you are having chemotherapy.
We know that cancer drugs can interact with medicines, herbal products and some food and drinks.
Supplements can also interact with other medicines.
We would recommend that you ask your doctor or pharmacist, in your hospital specialist team if it’s safe to take tart cherry juice while you’re having paclitaxel and when you’re taking any other medication you may be prescribed.
You could also speak to a Boots Macmillan information pharmacist. Our store locator will help you find your nearest one. If there isn’t one nearby, or if you’d prefer to speak to a pharmacist online, you can book a virtual appointment here.
For more general, evidence-based advice about nutrition, the charity, Penny Brohn, have an online café. They describe it as a relaxed group which offers a great chance to ask the host about topics of interest regarding food, and diet and cancer.
You can book here or read about other types of support they provide, here.
I hope this is helpful.
If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to get back in touch.
Sending best wishes,
Carole
